Konzert VELTINS-Arena

A unique variety of programs, technical superlatives that are constantly evolving and an amazing atmosphere make the VELTINS-Arena one of the most impressive multifunctional arenas in Europe. With a successful mix of entertainment, sports and music events, the arena has been setting new standards constantly for over 16 years now.

Since its opening in 2001, the VELTINS-Arena has established itself throughout the whole of Europe. Today it can be the largest open-air stage, tomorrow the home of the football club FC Schalke 04 and the day after tomorrow it transforms into a ski slope, exhibition center, opera house, venue for the next corporate event, ice rink or boxing temple – the VELTINS-Arena is a true quick-change artist. Within hours, it can be converted and transformed for almost any kind of event.

Already more than 25 million people watched international and national music highlights such as U2, Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi, AC / DC, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Depeche Mode, Helene Fischer, Herbert Grönemeyer or PUR, listened to opera productions such as Carmen and Aida or cheered at sporting events such as the Biathlon on Schalke, the Ice Hockey World Cup 2010, the boxing events with Klitschko and the UEFA Champions League Final 2004.

The home ground for the Bundesliga football club FC Schalke 04 regularly attracts up to 62,271 spectators. With a total of 2,341,344 spectators at 752 events, the arena is in second place in the overall ranking of German stadiums for 2016 in a ranking by Stadionwelt INSIDE. But not only nationally does the VELTINS-Arena enjoy a particularly good reputation as a venue for Bundesliga, European Cup or international matches.

„The world has never seen such a stadium,“ said former FIFA President Joseph Blatter at the stadium opening. The arena is consistently setting new standards, and that not only in terms of its multifunctionality. State-of-the-art stage and a completely reworked audio technology, the new video cube installed in the summer of 2016, the retractable grass field, sliding stands, the closeable roof or the RFID-based payment system “Knappenkarte” are just a few of the technical highlights that make the arena a true masterpiece.
